Marta Domínguez

Marta Domínguez was born in Palencia in 1975. She is a important Spanish runner. She was accused of drug dealing and doping but only to be accused of doping, once again, in 2013, being released with charges .
Dominguez currently competes mainly in 3000 m steeplechase, a distance in which she was the 2009 world champion . She has represented Spain three times at the Summer Olympics and has competed at the World Championships on six occasions.

Marta Domínguez had her first successes over 5000 metres: she won the bronze at the 1998 European Athletics Championships and reached the global podium at the 2001 World Championships in Athletics, winning the silver medal. She scored a gold medal double in 2002 by taking a 3000 metres win at the European Athletics Indoor Championships, before going on to become European champion at the 2002 Eurepean Championships. She achieved silver medals in the same events at the IAAF World Indoor Championships and 2003 World Championships in Athletics the following year. She retained her European crown at the 2006 European Athletics Championships.

From 2007 onwards she began to experiment with other events and she won the senior race at the 2007 European Cross Country Championships in Toro, Spain. Domínguez switched to the
steeplechase in 2008 and ran in the inaugural Olympic race at the 2008 Beijing Games, although she failed to finish. The 2009 World Championships in Athletics saw a reversal of fortunes as she won the gold medal, and she then took European silver in the event in 2010. As the defending world champion, she was given a free entry into the 2011 World Championships in Athletics but had to decline due to her pregnancy.

Usain Bolt

Usain Bolt  is a Jamaican sprinter widely regarded as the fastest person ever.He is the first man to hold both the 100 metres and 200 metres world records since fully automatic time measurements became mandatory in 1997. Along with his teammates, he also set the world record in the 4×100 metres relay. He is the reigning Olympic champion in these three events, the first man to win six Olympic gold medals in sprinting, and an eight-time World champion. He was the first to achieve a "double double" by winning 100 m and 200 m titles at consecutive Olympics (2008 and 2012),and topped this through the first "double triple" (including 4×100 m relays).

Although gaining worldwide popularity for a sprint double victory at the Beijing Games, Bolt has had more victories as 200 m runner. While he had not won any significant 100 m title prior to the 2008 Olympics, he had won numerous crowns in the 200 m event at the youth, junior and senior levels. Further, at the 2013 World Championships in Moscow, Bolt completed a hat-trick of 200 m world titles by winning his 3rd straight gold in the event. His 2009 record breaking margin for 100 m, from 9.69 seconds (his own previous world record) to 9.58, is the highest since the start of fully automatic time measurements.

Bolt's achievements in sprinting have earned him the media nickname "Lightning Bolt", and awards including the IAAF World Athlete of the Year, Track & Field Athlete of the Year, and Laureus Sportsman of the Year (three times). He is the highest paid athlete ever in track and field. He has been called the world's most marketable athlete. By winning 3 gold medals at the 2013 World Championships, Bolt became the most successful athlete in the 30-year history of the athletics world championships.

BMX RACE

California born

Bicycle motocross (BMX) started in the late 1960s in California, around the time that motocross became a popular sport in the USA. The motorised version of the sport was the inspiration for the human-powered competition.

BMX spreads worldwide

BMX racing offered exciting action at a low cost and the infant sport became an instant hit, especially in California. This led to the foundation of a sanctioning body for BMX in the USA in the early 1970s. Over the following decade, the sport gradually gained in international popularity.

Official international sport

In April 1981, the International BMX Federation was founded. BMX rapidly developed a unique sporting identity and it became evident that the sport had more in common with cycling than motorcycling. This was officially recognised in 1993 when BMX was fully integrated into the International Cycling Union (UCI). The sport made its Olympic debut at the 2008 Beijing Games.

Olympic history

It was in 2008 in Beijing that BMX made its debut on the Olympic programme. The men’s event was won by Latvia’s Maris Strombergs. In the women’s event, it was France’s Anne-Caroline Chausson who took the first Olympic title in this discipline.

BMX is one of the fastest and youngest cycling disciplines. Its principle is simple: eight riders compete on a track filled with jumps, tight bends and obstacles. In Beijing, the Laoshan velodrome track was 370m long for the men and 350m long for the women.

News of a few sports

Latest News
Sergio Garcia has admitted thoughts of helping Europe to Ryder Cup glory hampered his form at the Tour Championship.

The 32-year-old, who failed to make the European team in 2010 but worked as one of Colin Montgomerie's assistants, finished joint 15th in the final event before the tournament.
And with his level of excitement at being back playing in the Ryder Cup in Chicago "probably a 12" out of 10, Garcia claims he perhaps lost his focus at Tour Championship.
"I had so many things in my head right now - I was probably thinking too much about the Ryder Cup," he said.
"I played every round with one of the American team and couldn't stop myself thinking: 'Right, I'm one up now' or whatever.
"I've always enjoyed the match and I just hope my game gets back to where it was. Hopefully I'll get some nice practice in and get going.
"I want to play as well as I can to help my team, although I've always said that I'd rather lose all my five games and Europe wins than win all five and we lose."

Ollie: Experience will be key

The Spaniard, who leads the Europe side into battle this week, believes they will benefit from having so many players who are PGA Tour regulars on the team.
Only three players - Miguel Angel Jimenez, Paul Lawrie and rookie Nicolas Colsaerts made the once-feted official flight across the atlantic this year, in company with captain Olazabal and the trophy.
Ian Poulter, Justin Rose, Luke Donald, Rory McIlroy and Lee Westwood regularly ply their trade Stateside and Olazabal hopes their experience will hold the team in good stead at Medinah.
"It's completely different to, say, 15 years ago," he said. "Some of the European players have their base here, they play the tour, they're very familiar with the golf courses and their opponents.
"So in that regard they feel more comfortable with the whole situation of coming to the United States to play the Ryder Cup.
"It has changed in that respect, and also they have realised over the years they can compete with the players over here. That, somehow boosts your confidence and that plays a very important part when you're playig matchplay."
Europe have won four of the last five Ryder Cups but Olazabal insisted that record would have little bearing on the outcome this week.
"This is a new Ryder Cup. We are playing here against a very strong team, playing away," he added. "The crowds are going to be rooting for the home team really strong, so we have to be prepared for that.
"I've said all along both teams are pretty even, and I think it's going to be a close match. From that point of view I don't see a favourite, and it will have to be decided on the golf course."

Sale Sharks duo Andy Powell and Tom Brady will appear before a disciplinary hearing on Tuesday, following incidents during Saturday's defeat at Bath.

Wales number eight Powell is alleged to have used foul language and made an offensive hand gesture to spectators.
Winger Brady has been charged with an alleged dangerous tackle on Bath number eight Ben Skirving.
